Walmart Foundation to Announce $1.2M in Grants to Florida Nonprofits

Local nonprofits to be recognized at Day of Giving event in Pensacola

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation will hold a Day of Giving in Pensacola to honor the Florida nonprofits receiving more than $1.2 million in grants. Walmart representatives alongside state and local officials will announce the nonprofits, which include those recipients from Pensacola receiving more than $100,000 in grants. The grants support hunger relief, healthy eating and career opportunity efforts. The nonprofits to be recognized at the Pensacola event include:

  • Feeding the Gulf Coast, Milton
  • Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, Pensacola
  • Pensacola Little Theatre, Pensacola
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida, Pensacola

The funding awarded in Florida is a combination of recent grant funding to national nonprofit organizations, who then redistributed the grants to select local affiliates across the state, as well as recent grants awarded by the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program. In total, the grant funding amounts to more than $33 million nationwide and is estimated to provide more than 57 million meals to nearly 1.5 million people in communities throughout the country, including here in Florida.

Over the last fiscal year, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $78 million in cash and in-kind contributions to charitable organizations throughout Florida.
