What we love about our homebuyers
Over the course of our 35 years of service, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity has helped over 1,300 families achieve their dreams of homeownership through a strategic partnership. Whether this is buying a new, beautifully designed home or a rehabilitation of a current property, Pensacola Habitat loves our homebuyers for a number of different reasons.
Our homeowners build stronger families. Compared to renters, homeowners are more likely to go to church, more likely to belong to community organizations (e.g. Parent-Teacher Organizations, Homeowner Associations, etc.), and are less likely to have alcohol/substance abuse problems. This helps create families that have strong familial bonds and respect for themselves and the world around them, especially their communities.
Our homeowners build stronger communities. Homeownership instills community pride in our homeowners that might not be found in the typical renter. Homeowners are more likely to repair/improve their homes (including maintaining a garden), live 4 times longer in the community, work to improve their community through voting and keeping up-to-date on their political and school board representative. This commitment to their community helps our homeowners create an aura of success in the surrounding area, including their children.
Our homeowners build successful children. Compared to renters, our homeowners’ children are 25% more likely to graduate from high school and are 116% more likely to graduate from college! They experience increased math and reading scores with fewer behavior problems. On top of that, they are 20% less likely to become teenage mothers saving taxpayers an estimated $34,000. 59% of homeowners pay their success forward by generating economic growth through owning a home of their own. Homeownership impacts many different levels of the community and is a necessity for improving our economic stability.
Our homeowners are amazing individuals and families who achieved their dreams with a little help and a lot of hard work. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity loves each and every one of their homeowners and would love to help you achieve your dream of homeownership.
