Construction Volunteering

Construction volunteering is available Tuesday – Saturday, as new builds are scheduled. The work sites begin at 8am and run until about 3pm. There are three ways to get involved.  Read about the various construction volunteer tasks below and check out our Construction FAQ’s.

  1. Create a user profile on pensacolahabitat.org/volunteernow/
  2. Choose a volunteer opportunity to fit your schedule.
  3. Receivea confirmation email with your build location on the Thursday before you build.

Groups

  1. Identify a team leader who will serve as coordinator for your project.
  2. Discuss group availability (weekday versus weekend).
  3. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (850) 434-5456×140 or volunteer@pensacolahabitat.org to discuss workday availability for your group.
  • Framing

The framing process includes building and sheeting walls, setting and sheeting trusses, installing doors & windows, and interior blocking. These projects normally book 2-4 months in advance for weekends and up to a month in advance for weekdays.

Volunteers must be 18 or older and sign a waiver to participate.

  • Painting

Volunteers can help paint the interior of the homes. Siding is used on the exterior of the homes. These projects are generally scheduled 1-3 weeks in advance, so they are especially good for groups that can organize on short notice.

Volunteers 18 or older must sign a waiver to participate. Volunteers 14-18 must have a youth waiver signed by a parent or guardian to participate.  One chaperone is needed for every five 14-15 year olds; one chaperone is needed for every ten 16-17 year olds.

  • Landscaping

Pensacola Habitat partners with ARC Gateway to purchase the sod and plants for each Habitat for Humanity home.  Landscaping involves grading and prepping the yard, laying sod, and planting plants and trees.  These projects are generally scheduled 1-3 weeks in advance, so they are especially good for groups that can organize on short notice.

Volunteers 18 or older must sign a waiver to participate. Volunteers 14-17 must have a youth waiver signed by a parent or guardian to participate. One chaperone is needed for every five 14-15 year olds; one chaperone is needed for every ten 16-17 year olds.
