Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Celebrates Women Across Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties raising over $94,000 for their 8th Annual Women Build

Pensacola, Fla.- Pensacola Habitat for Humanity celebrates 145 women across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, raising over $94,000 for the 8th annual Pensacola Habitat Women Build.

Since July, these women have worked together to raise funds to build a home for another local woman currently in Pensacola Habitat's Home Buyer Program. Women Build is a Pensacola Habitat initiative that empowers women and shows our community how much can be accomplished when local women join forces to address the need for affordable housing.

"It's the next best thing to becoming a Born again Christian and giving birth to my 2 Sons, which are both Miraculous. Both give you unspeakable JOY. I could not in my wildest dreams imagine the Love and Support that I have received from Pensacola Habitat throughout this process. It's amazing. To have my Family a part of this Journey again it's amazing. Years and years to come, we can gather together. To God Be The Glory," said Melinda, this year's Women Build Home Buyer, when asked what being a part of Women Build and becoming a homeowner means to her.

Pensacola Habitat for Humanity relies on events like Women Build to bring the community together to build homes, communities, and hope. The women participating in this year's Women Build are made up of individuals, teams, and sponsors, including Titanium Wireless, Walmer Air Conditioning & Heating Co., Bank of America- Merrill Lynch, Habitat for Humanity International, Lowe's, Gulf Power, Frisky Dolphin, Kevin Hausfeld P.A., Stern Chiropractic, Eager Beaver Professional Tree Care, Liberty Pet Care.

"Community support is what makes Pensacola Habitat for Humanity so successful. These women throughout our community have come together to raise over $94,000 so that a local Pensacola Woman could have an affordable place to call home. This is what Pensacola Habitat is all about, and nothing can stop us as long as we have the support from our community," said Crystal Scott, Pensacola Habitat's VP of Development and Communications.

Team SWAT Build Sisters is this year's top fundraising team, raising a total of $18,000. This is their 5th Year participating in Women Build and their 2nd year being the top fundraising team.

"SWAT Build Sisters believe in building hope, love, and support for everyone in our community! We believe that everyone should have a place to call home. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity represents all of that! That is why we are excited to be a part of this amazing collective in building communities of hope year after year," said Tammy Lynn Barr, current Women Build team leader of team SWAT Build Sisters.
