Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Receives $103,820 From IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area Award

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola Habitat for Humanity was named one of 11 area nonprofits in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties to receive a grant award of $103,820 at the IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area Annual Meeting on Oct. 16, 2022.

IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area, a women’s philanthropic organization now 1,100 members strong, leveraged their collective resources to fund transformational grants to nonprofits to support and revitalize communities. Setting the example of philanthropy since 2003, they have remained steadfast in their mission to know and serve the community.

“To be chosen among so many worthy projects to receive an award from this amazing group of selfless women is such an honor,” Young said. “They are leading innovation during very challenging times, with one hundred percent of each member’s annual contribution of $1,000 going directly to help many of our local neighbors in need. We are excited to be a part and will continue to work closely together to help the community grow and prosper by providing quality housing that is safe and attainable for families, and will remain affordable in perpetuity through our Community Land Trust.”

The grant awarded to Pensacola Habitat will fund the creation of their Community Land Trust. Community Land Trusts can be used to significantly reduce barriers to homeownership for low to moderate income households by negating the cost of land and permanently designating that land for affordable housing.

Under Young’s leadership, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity has grown in all areas of operation. Fiscal Year 2022 ended in June with 41 home closings and 33 Community Development rehabilitation and repair projects, up from 26 and 13 respectively completed when Young began with Pensacola Habitat in 2020. Additionally, the affiliate has begun expanding its reach within work force housing and financing options, now including their Community Land Trust, as well as HUD Housing Counseling services and has seen strong growth in funds raised through the Pensacola Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
