Pensacola Habitat’s Women Build is in full swing after a successful Kick- Off event!

Pensacola, FL (July 24, 2019) -On Thursday, July 18th, A group of 60 likeminded individuals gathered to Kick Start the 2019 Women Build event hosted by Pensacola Habitat for Humanity.

Women Build is a community build event that brings people together to construct new homes for families in the community. As of now there are 11 Teams of 10 -20 individuals that have band together to help an inspiring young woman achieve her goal of owning a home.

Women Build adds a ripple effect throughout the community. Providing the opportunity to engage and help your neighbors build up the community one homeowner at a time.

Genevieve Kurpius a fifth-year women builder says; “The thing I have loved the best about my work over the last 5 years, building homes for women in the community, is that it is very personal. You get to meet them, hear their story and listen to where they see their life going after securing affordable housing that they can call their own. That connection makes the experience very special and easy to make the heart connection to the mission and the home buyer.”

During this year’s kickoff Pensacola Habitat hosted a breakfast for all the women involved. It allowed them to mingle and get to know the homebuyer, Cazell Davis. “I am overjoyed and tremendously blessed to be part of such an amazing organization, and to be nominated for such a great opportunity. I’ve heard about all the great things the Women Build Group has done for homeowners in the past, so when I found out I was nominated for 2019 Women Build I was literally in tears filled with joy. God has truly blessed me, and I thank him every day for his continuous blessings”; said Davis.

Women Build is a fun and easy way to get involved in your community and meet new people along the way. Ally Wade the team leader of the Baptist Hospital group, and first year being a part of Women build says; I am so excited to be involved with this year’s build. I have met so many awesome women already, and the fact that the homebuyer is a Baptist employee makes it even more special."

The goal is for each person to raise $500 totaling in $100,000 to go towards the home. At the end each team volunteers to physically help build the home. Don’t let that discourage you, no experience is necessary to get involved. Pensacola Habitat encourages all to join no matter their experience level. It’s a place to come together as a community and help each other build homes, communities, and hope.
