Pensacola Habitat for Humanity talks about innovative solutions to the housing crisis at their Fifth Annual Community Summit.

Pensacola Habitat for Humanity is hosting their fifth annual Community Summit. This event aims to inform attendees on how the housing crisis affects our community and discuss possible solutions to address the ongoing crisis, including the Cost of Home campaign.

The Cost of Home campaign is nationwide and focuses on solutions for making ‘home’ more affordable across our communities. Nearly 19 million households across the United States are spending at least half of their income on a place to live and in turn unable to afford everyday necessities.

“Pensacola Habitat is so excited to bring speakers in from out of town to provide our community information about innovative solutions to the housing crisis we are experiencing. The cost of 'home' should be something we all can afford,” said Crystal Scott Director of Resource Development

The speakers include;  Keynote - Chris Vincent, Vice President, Government Relations and Advocacy at Habitat for Humanity International, Brandon Price, J.D., LL.M, Advocacy and Compliance Officer at Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity, Danielle Stroud, Sr. Director of Development at Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter, Florida, John Rickmon, Real Estate broker and antiques dealer and Sean Person, Construction Director at Pensacola Habitat for Humanity. Bob Solarki, Anchor at WEAR channel 3 will be the Master of Ceremonies.

Affordable housing is housing that a household can pay for, while still having money left over for other necessities like food, transportation, and health care. That means that what’s considered “affordable” depends on a household’s income.

1 in 6 families are denied the personal and economic stability that safe, decent and affordable housing provides. Instead, these families are forced to make impossible choices. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity helps families in need of a hand up to build or improve a place they can call home. For more information  visit pensacolahabitat.org

This event will be held at Sanders Beach-Corinne Jones Resource Center on Wednesday, August 14th at 1pm- 5pm. The doors will open at 12:30. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and family to keep the conversation going about how the housing crisis has affected our community.
