Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s President and CEO Earns Prestigious Recognition

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola Habitat for Humanity President and CEO Sam Young was named a part of Leadership Florida’s Cornerstone Class 40 for 2022-2023, the latest such accolade demonstrating Young’s commitment to servant leadership.

The Leadership Florida Cornerstone Class consists of the top leaders in Florida, with programming and events designed to foster relationships amongst the top organizations in the state. Criteria for selection includes requiring candidates to have made significant achievements in career and community and to have shown a demonstrated commitment to bettering their community.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized by Leadership Florida as a leader in not just my community but across our state,” Young said. “This class is full of some of the very best leaders in Florida and to be recognized as part of such an accomplished and successful group is truly rewarding. I hope to continue meeting the high standards that I set for myself and my team as we work together to help the community grow and prosper.”

Under Young’s leadership, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity has grown in all areas of operation. Fiscal Year 2022 ended in June with 41 home closings and 33 Community Development rehabilitation and repair projects, up from 26 and 13 respectively completed when Young began with Pensacola Habitat in 2020. Additionally, the affiliate has begun expanding its reach within work force housing and financing options to include a Community Land Trust, as well as HUD Housing Counseling services and has seen strong growth in profits at the Pensacola Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
