Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Celebrates Recent Mortgage Payoffs by Nine Homeowners

Pensacola, Fla.- Pensacola Habitat for Humanity holds a mortgage shredding celebration for nine homeowners that recently paid off their mortgages through Pensacola Habitat for Humanity. 

Pensacola Habitat for Humanity strives to make affordable homeownership a reality in our community. Last year, 28 homeowners paid off their mortgages with Pensacola Habitat. Pensacola Habitat recently held a mortgage shredding celebration for nine of those homeowners that paid off their mortgages for homes built by Pensacola Habitat. Pensacola Habitat staff, Homeowners, city officials, board members, and members of our community were all in attendance today to celebrate these amazing homeowners.

 "No more monthly payments! By eliminating monthly mortgage payments, I can free up that cash flow to put toward other things. For example, I can invest the extra money or save for my child's college tuition," stated Bridgette Neely, owner of a home built by Pensacola Habitat in 2012.

 Staff members from Pensacola Habitat are extremely familiar with affordable housing practices as the organization is an affordable housing developer and mortgage lender having served more than 1,400 mortgages. Homes built by Pensacola Habitat are sold at fair market value to individuals and families within the Home Buyer Program. Pensacola Habitat provides a subsidy based on the Home Buyer's affordability to ensure their mortgage payments are below 30% of their monthly income. All the mortgage payments Pensacola Habitat receives each month go into the Fund for Humanity, which they then use to build more houses throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. 

 "Our Home Buyer program gives families and individuals the opportunity and resources to become homeowners. It is wonderful to be able to celebrate these homeowner's accomplishments knowing that Pensacola Habitat helped them achieve this milestone," stated Sam Young, CEO of Pensacola Habitat for Humanity.
