Pensacola Habitat for Humanity teams up with Pensacola Blue Wahoos

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola Habitat for Humanity continued its partnership with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos by welcoming lovable mascot Kazoo and front office staff members as volunteers on a build site on Tuesday, February 20.

This exciting volunteer outing demonstrates the strength of the partnership between Pensacola’s leader in affordable affordable housing and Pensacola’s top-notch baseball organization. This partnership will continue throughout the calendar year, with a big highlight coming on Wednesday, July 3, with the Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Takeover Night at the Blue Wahoos game that evening.

“We depend on our many dedicated community partners to have the impact that we do, and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos stand near the forefront of those partners,” said Pensacola Habitat for Humanity President/CEO Sam Young. “Our partnership with them has truly been a home run, and I can’t wait to see us swing for the fences at our Takeover Night.”

The opportunities provided by the Blue Wahoos have proven to be a big part of Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build initiative, as Women Builders earned nearly $43,000 in donations in 2023, primarily by working concessions during Blue Wahoos games. Last year’s Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Takeover Night was a huge success that resulted in almost $6,000 contributed in just one night.

As part of this year’s Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Takeover Night, staff and volunteers will fill the concessions stands, sell 50/50 tickets, participate in on field activities, hand out freebies, cheer on the home team and so much more. The night will be capped off by another spectacular postgame fireworks show to kick off Fourth of July celebrations. This incredible evening of baseball, community and partnership will help raise thousands of dollars towards providing affordable homeownership opportunities in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. The proceeds of tickets purchased through Pensacola Habitat for Humanity will go right back into funding its mission.
