Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Swinging for the Fences with Takeover Night at Blue Wahoos Stadium

PENSACOLA, Fla. – On Wednesday, July 3, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity staff, volunteers and supporters will take over Blue Wahoos Stadium for a night of Pensacola Blue Wahoos baseball, postgame fireworks and fundraising.

After raising nearly $6,000 at its first Takeover Night last June, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity is continuing its strong partnership with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos by once again filling the concessions stands, selling 50/50 tickets, participating in on-field activities, handing out free giveaways, cheering on the home team and so much more, this time with an Independence Day twist. In addition to Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s presence at the game, the Blue Wahoos will be wearing special Fourth of July-themed jerseys and capping off the night with a spectacular postgame fireworks show to kick off Fourth of July celebrations.

“We’re looking forward to an incredible atmosphere at this year’s Takeover Night. It’s exciting to pair all the fun we have planned for the evening with the energy of a packed crowd and the celebration of our independence with fireworks and much more,” said Ben Boynton, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s Communications Manager. “This event will raise thousands of dollars towards affordable housing in our community, and to be able to do it in such a fun way is a blessing. We hope to see everyone out there!”

The opportunities provided by the Blue Wahoos have proven to be a big part of Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build initiative. Women Build participants who volunteer their time working the concessions stands at games earn a portion of proceeds from that night’s sales as a donation, with 2023’s games adding nearly $43,000 towards the campaign’s total of over $150,000. This incredible evening of baseball, community and partnership will help raise thousands of dollars towards providing affordable homeownership opportunities in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. 100% of all proceeds from tickets purchased through Pensacola Habitat for Humanity will go right back into funding its mission.
