Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Celebrates New Homeowners at Block Party

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola Habitat for Humanity hosted a Block Party on Saturday, February 22, to celebrate the completion of five new homes in a cul-de-sac on Massachusetts Avenue. The event brought together homebuyers, donors, sponsors, community leaders, volunteers and supporters for a day of celebration, fun and community spirit.

Event attendees from across Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties toured five of Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s floor plans, ranging from a two-bedroom, two-bath to a four-bedroom, two-bath layout. The festivities served as a powerful display of the quality of homes built by Pensacola Habitat for Humanity.

The Block Party also included a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially dedicate the new homes to their proud soon-to-be owners. They include a dedicated single father of three boys, a couple who have been seeking homeownership for many years, a mother on track to be the first homeowner in her family, a single mother hoping to provide a stable foundation for her daughter, and a woman who has overcome health challenges to reach this milestone.

“I stand here both humbled and proud when I look around and see a new neighborhood rise like a phoenix,” said Sam Young, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s President and CEO. “To be able to share this special moment with many of the people who helped make this happen - it’s a real celebration of how our community bands together to help our homebuyers transform their lives with affordable homeownership.”

Attendees also enjoyed food trucks, games and live music, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity. Escambia County Commissioner Mike Kohler was in attendance to support affordable housing in his district, with Sonny’s BBQ and BAM! Snoballs serving food and tasty treats to all.

Applications for homeownership are currently open with no waitlist. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity encourages local individuals and families to learn more about its Homebuyer Program and apply by visiting pensacolahabitat.org/homebuyer.
